This book focuses on a therapeutic tool, the baby doll, and its many benefits for seniors as well as children. It is similar to pet therapy, but uses a doll with the weight and appearance of a real baby instead of an animal.
A complementary professional care approach supported by robust scientific studies, the use of therapeutic dolls is growing in Canada and generating great interest.
The aim of this publication is to present and promote the doll approach, including its advantages and disadvantages. To do so, the author describes field experiences in Quebec, including case studies in LTC homes and in a pre-kindergarten class. This very easy-to-use manual also offers practical recommendations so professionals can integrate this approach successfully.
This book is intended for health professionals, caregivers, students in geriatric care and recreation services, family caregivers, as well as preschool, elementary and special education teachers, and anyone interested in using this new approach.
