Discover this classic indoor/outdoor game: the horseshoe game. Designed for autonomous residents and those living with neurocognitive impairment!
For a friendly tournament or just for fun, this must-have game will bring back many memories for seniors!
Horseshoes can be played by two or four players.
Here’s how to play:
- Place the rod in the centre of the rubber disc and place it on the playing surface.
- Players position themselves at the same end of the game. The first player throws his two irons, trying to get them as close as possible to the rod at the other end.
- The second player then throws his two irons in the same way.
- Once all four irons have been thrown, the points are counted:
- 5 points for an iron around the shaft
- 3 points if the iron is resting on the shaft at an angle
- 1 point if the shoe is less than 6″ from the rod
Then the game starts again from the opposite end of the playing surface and the players throw their irons in the opposite direction.
The game can be played to 25, 40 or 50 points, depending on the participants’ abilities.
Includes: 4 horseshoes, 2 rods, 2 rubber pads and 2 plastic rods for outdoor use.
Playing surface: This game is played on playing surfaces #700 or #701 (NOT INCLUDED). If you are using the #700 surface, assemble your tiles to obtain a 3′ x 12′ surface.
