This book focuses on a therapeutic tool, the reborn doll, and its many beneficial effects on seniors as well as children. It is similar to animal-assisted therapy, but favours the use
of a doll with the weight and appearance of a real baby instead of an animal.
As a complementary approach to professional care that has been validated by conclusive scientific studies, the use of therapeutic dolls is developing in Canada and is generating
significant interest.
The purpose of this publication is to present and grow awareness of doll therapy, including its pros and cons. To this aim, the author describes experiences in the field in
Quebec, including case studies in long-term care homes and in a pre-kindergarten class. This easy-to-use manual also offers practical recommendations for professionals who
wish to successfully integrate the approach.
This book is intended for healthcare professionals, care providers, geriatrics students, recreation services personnel, family caregivers, educators in preschool, primary, and
special education settings, as well as anyone who is interested in using this new approach.
